LEXINGTON< Ky. (WKYT)- Lexington Police are able to make three quick arrests after sales associates at the Meijer in Hamburg say three teens were trying to get away with stolen goods. When they approached the front door, a customer jumped into action, to try and help.
"It was kinda obvious something was going on---cause they was running pretty hard and itsd not a track in there," exclaimed George Burdette, the man police say helped chase down the teens. "But I figured somebody was doing something wrong."
Burdette, an off-duty guard at the Fayette County Detention Center, jumped out of line and helped stop the boys in the parking lot.
"Kept my eyes on 'em---some of the employees was with them," Burdette explained. "I told them to stop. Being in law enforcement myself, I'm off duty but did what I had to do!"
Once the on-duty officers arrived and took care of business, Burdette had one thing left to do before his shopping trip was complete.
"Gotta gop pay for that! Otherwise, I'll be the one in cuffs!"
Police won't release the names of the three teens charged because they are underage.
