Hardin County teacher fired after being charged with abuse

ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. (AP) - A central Kentucky teacher has been fired after police charged him with sex abuse involving a student.

The News-Enterprise reports 54-year-old Edwin Bonet-Ruiz of Radcliff was fired from Central Hardin High School on Tuesday, a day after his arrest. He had taught Spanish there since 2000.

Police say Bonet-Ruiz is accused of kissing and inappropriately touching a 14-year-old girl in his classroom last week.

It was unclear whether Bonet-Ruiz has an attorney.
