Harrison County fireman charged with fire equipment thefts

HARRISON COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - The thefts happened over several months. Fire equipment was stolen from volunteer fire stations in Harrison County.

After investigating and working with the Harrison County Sheriff's Office, the Harrison County Fire District has found out that the thief is allegedly one of their own.

26-year-old Anthony Carson is charged with stealing nearly 10,000 dollars of fire equipment.

We are told Carson volunteered for the Harrison County fire district for a few years, specifically at station two in Berry.

Now he's been charged with 11 counts of theft by unlawful taking for allegedly stealing thousands of dollars worth of fire equipment.

The sheriff's office shared with us that the items Carson is accused of taking are several generators, leaf blowers, and chainsaws.

Court documents also show that these stolen items were either sold or pawned at several central Kentucky pawnshops.

Carson bonded out of jail on March 14, paying 1,500 dollars in cash.

We are told other Harrison County volunteer fire stations are also missing equipment.

No one with the county fire district or board would comment on the thefts.

Carson's arraignment has been set for Monday, March 25 in Harrison County court.
