Harsh winter costs state $68 million

FRANKFORT, KY. (WKYT) - We're a month into spring, but the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is still feeling the effects of the long, snowy winter we had. Cabinet leaders tell us they spent more than $68 million on snow and ice removal this winter. That's one and a half times more than normal. Since the cabinet spent more money this winter, leaders say there won't be as much money for spring maintenance work on state roadways. The maintenance includes tree trimming and pavement patching.
