LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - UK coach John Calipari was courtside to watch Madison Central open the Boys' State Tournament with an 81-56 victory over Wayne County. Calipari has an eye on Central star Dominique Hawkins, who led his team to an easy victory.
Hawkins finished with 25 points, three rebounds and three assists. A 6-1 guard, Hawkins hit 11-17 from the field. Calipari watched the game along with assistants Kenny Payne and Orlando Antigua. Ken-Jah Bosley had 19 for the Indians. Quan Taylor finished with 13 points and 15 rebounds.
Madison Central broke the game open early in the second quarter. The Indians are now 29-5 on the season. They'll play Holmes in the quarterfinals Friday at noon. Holmes defeated PRP 65-60.
