Business is non-stop for local air conditioning companies inundated with calls from customers trying to keep cool.
Fayette Heating & Air is on the job round the clock. Service members are out doing preventive maintenance and making repairs. Owner Bret Melrose says these temperatures can make units work overtime and that can cause problems.
The best thing to do to keep units running efficiently, Melrose says, is to make sure to keep your indoor filter clean. Outside, you can wash your unit with the hose or powerwasher, making sure to keep the coils clean. Also keep weeds and shrubs trimmed away from the unit.
