Heavy rains flood bridge in Letcher County

Updated: Thu 4:02 PM, Jan 31, 2013

LETCHER COUNTY (WKYT) - It isn't snow, but rain that's causing problems in eastern Kentucky.

High water has made a bridge in Letcher county impassable. People who live in the area say the bridge floods anytime it rains heavily. They say debris gets stuck on it, which makes it impossible to cross.

"In the last two weeks my grandson has missed two weeks of school," explains Orville Dixon, who lives near the flooded bridge, "and it's this way pretty often any time it comes a rain."

People that live around the area say there is a walking bridge so they don't get stranded.
