Help needed for Red Kettle campaign

Posted: Thu 5:36 PM, Nov 29, 2012

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) -- Leaders with the Salvation Army say they need more help, to make sure their annual Red Kettle campaign is a success.

The Salvation Army of Lexington tell us their campaign is about $22,000 behind... where it was this time last year.

They hope to raise $500,000 by christmas.

While they need money, they're also looking for volunteers.

"We really need more people ringing the bell," said Major Debra Ashcraft, with the Salvation Army. "One of the things that has hurt the campaign is that we've had to have several stands each day go without somebody ringing the bell."

If you don't want to stand outside to ring the bell you can also host an online red kettle, to raise money, and you can use your smartphone to donate. Just scan a QR code, at each red kettle location, to make a donation by credit card.
