Lexington has historic snowfall Thursday; could see record cold Friday

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Several locations are not only approaching one foot, but nearing two feet of snow too! Road conditions are already bad, but will get worse overnight due to record cold temperatures.


  • The heaviest snow continues to work through until we move through the afternoon.
  • Some of the more impressive bands of snow have already produced up to 2" per hour.
  • The average will remain somewhere between 1"-2" on top of what we already have.
  • Snow will begin to wrap-up during the afternoon and evening hours.
  • Temperatures will drop significantly for early Friday morning. We could see sub-zero readings again. Record temperature in Lexington is -2°.
