High school students join rally at capitol

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - About 25 students from a Lexington high school have boosted bills that would outlaw discrimination based on sexual orientation.

According to the Lexington Herald-Leader, students from Henry Clay High School stood with about 200 others in the rotunda at the Kentucky State Capitol on Wednesday and chanted while holding banners.

Ben Swanson is a 16-year-old student at Henry Clay and is chairman of the school's Young Democrats Club. Swanson said he thinks everyone should have the same rights that he enjoys as a straight person.

Swanson said the issue will take a while and a lot of hard work to become law.
