Higher education partnerships win $859K in grants

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Federal grants totaling $859,000 have been awarded to four Kentucky universities in partnership with other educational institutions to improve teacher quality from preschool to high school.

Morehead State, Murray State, Northern Kentucky and the University of Kentucky are the lead institutions, with proposals that include partnerships with the University of Louisville, Hazard Community and Technical College, Madisonville Community College, the Kentucky Center for Mathematics, Thomas More College and local high-need school districts.

The Council on Postsecondary Education awarded the federal funds. Council President Bob King says the work will lead to more high school students being ready for college and careers when they graduate.
