Car hits roadside worker on Nicholas-Robertson County line

ROBERTSON COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - A roadside worker is recovering after an accident on the job.

State police say a man was hit along U.S. 68 on the Nicholas-Robertson County line while working Thursday afternoon.

It happened at about 1 p.m. when Jacob Gray, 21, of Indiana was weed eating and then tried to cross the street. That's when state police say a 2008 Ford Focus hit him.

The woman driving that vehicle was Cassidy Truesdell, according to state police. And they say she stopped to help.

The spokesman in District 9 with Kentucky Department of Highways says their hearts are with those injured and safety personnel did respond along with state police to ensure proper work zone and safety procedures were being followed.

That spokesman also told me Gray was working for Linkel Company at the time of the accident. That company is a state contractor for highway roadside mowing and is based out of Indiana.

State police are investigating this accident but do not expect to file any charges.

Gray was airlifted to UK Hospital from the scene with non-life threatening injuries.
