Horses rescued after falling into Scott County pond

SCOTT COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - A couple of horses ended up in a dangerous situation due to the weather.

The two horses were trying to get a drink of water at a pond on Gunnell Road in Scott County when they fell through the ice. They were in water up to their necks until rescuers arrived and got them out. The fire chief says the situation was dangerous, both for the horses and the rescuers.

"Its always dangerous even with dry suit on we talking about four degrees and I don't know what the wind chill is I can tell you its cold, but yeah, its always dangerous," says Chief Mike Fuller, with the Scott County Fire Dept.

The rescuers are okay. As for the horses, the owner tells us they're concerned about pneumonia.
