Updated: Thu 12:42 PM, Mar 14, 2013

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - More than 15 fire and police spent a majority of the morning on the scene of a house fire on Clays Mill Road.

Officials say they received multiple calls Thursday morning about visible smoke and flames coming from a home. When officials arrived on scene, they said there was heavy smoke coming from the home.

"We got the fire knocked down within 15 to 20 minutes, took that long to get it really under control," explains Lexington Fire Department Battalion Chief Jeff Nantz.

Two men were inside when the fire started. Officials say one man jumped from the second story to escape the fire. Both were treated at the scene, then transported to a hospital with minor injuries. Officials say they did sustain minor burns on their body, especially on their feet as they tried to run out of the house.

"The two people inside were transported for minor injuries," explains Chief Nantz, "also two dogs were rescued from inside. Our ladder crews actually had to go inside the house and rescue them."

Clays mill was shut down in both directions between Pasadena and New Circle Road for hours.

It is now back open.

Investigators continue to look for a cause of the fire.
