FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Republicans running for legislative seats in Kentucky will get some help from former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.

The former Republican presidential candidate will appear at a fundraiser Saturday in Louisville. Huckabee, who ran for president in 2008, now is a FOX News personality.

He is the second Republican of national stature to come to Kentucky to help the GOP raise money for legislative seats. Former Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour has already headlined an event.

Democrats outnumbered Republicans in the Kentucky House during the last legislative session 59-41. Republicans are pushing to close that gap, thinking the political climate favors them this year with President Barack Obama, an unpopular figure in Kentucky, at the top of the Democratic ballot.
