Husband set to face trial in wife's death

GREENUP, Ky. (AP) - A northeastern Kentucky husband is set to stand trial on charges that he stabbed to death his wife a year ago.

Jury selection is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. EDT Monday in Greenup Circuit Court for Charles Steven "Steve" Lee, who is accused of killing his wife, community activist 40-year-old Leslie "Crickett" Lanham Lee on March 4, 2011.

Commonwealth's Attorney Cliff Duvall told The Independent (bit.ly/SvmHVn) the death penalty isn't being sought because the case doesn't qualify for it.

Lanham-Lee was found dead in the couple's home in Greenup. Her dog was also missing, but was later found alive in an area off the A-A Highway near the Greenup-Lewis County line.

Steve Lee is lodged in the Greenup County Detention Center.
