Working on a tip, Laurel County Sheriffs detectives in plain clothes went to the building to scope the place out, and what they found was more than enough to make the big bust.

"It's one of the bigger ones as far as the gambling, since I've been in office," said Laurel County Sheriff John Root.

In the back of a building once occupied by a funeral home, sheriff's deputies found gambling machines, and lots of them.

"They discovered 19 gambling machines, an ATM machine, a coin counter, and a bill counter," noted Root.

Also found, was a stack of cash worth nearly ten thousand dollars and multiple cameras. One camera was set up to see who entered the building.
Raymond Wright of Williamsburg and Shannon Jones of Rockholds were both taken into custody charged with first degree Promoting Gambling.

"A lot of these establishments where it's just gambling, casino-type environment, the problem is of course drugs, drinking and that's our main concern," Root said.

Remnants of methamphetamine was found on Shannon Jones, leading to a separate charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance.
The sheriff's office says it's still under investigation how long the operation was in business.

Sheriff root says they still have to go through the video surveillance, and that more arrest are expected.
