Indiana fugitive captured in Ky. after 14 years

HARLAN, Ky. (AP) - Police in eastern Kentucky say they have arrested an Indiana man who has been a fugitive for 14 years.

The Harlan Daily Enterprise reports Harlan city police took 49-year-old Ralph North into custody over the weekend on a 1998 warrant stemming from a parole violation. Police say North was on parole in Indianapolis after being convicted of molesting a child in a different state.

North is being held on a federal detainer at the Harlan County Detention Center as he awaits extradition to Indiana.

Police said they worked with the U.S. Marshals Service to find and arrest North.

Online jail records don't indicate whether North has an attorney.
