Injured biker continues to recover

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) 27 NewsFirst now knows the young girl hit by a car while riding her bicycle Friday, is 15-year-old Shaina Whitt.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Man-o-War and Boston Road on Friday evening. Witnesses told police that the driver of a Toyota struck Whitt as she was crossing from the outside of Man-o-War to the inside of Man-o-War, against a red light. Whitt received life threatening injuries after being thrown from her bike, and remains in critical condition at UK Hospital. The teenager was not wearing a helmet, and according to police, the driver of the vehicle isn’t likely to face charges based on witness testimony.

The Facebook page, “Prayers for Shaina Whitt” has been created by her family in order to request prayers for Shaina’s recovery and to update the public on her condition.
