Inmate at center of intense search captured

CARROLL COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - The search for an inmate who walked away from a state facility is over.

State Police arrested Russell Helm, 33, on Tuesday afternoon at a home on Happy Hollow Lane in Carroll County.

Police say Helm walked away from a state facility in Richmond on Thursday.

The search led to an evacuation at a business, a lockdown at an elementary school and a safety alert at EKU.

Helm was serving time on drug charges out of Carroll County.

He would have been up for parole next August.
