Investigators looking for information on possible case of animal cruelty

NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - Jessamine County Animal Care and Control is asking for help with an animal cruelty investigation.

Officers responded to the Helmsdale Apartment complex on Witchita Drive on Wednesday afternoon for a report of a dog that had been found in a dumpster.

Animal Control says it arrived on the scene and located a Chihuahua mixed dog inside a dumpster that appeared to be injured.

After removing the dog, Animal Control says officers discovered that the dog had several puncture wounds that appeared to be severely infected.

Animal Control transported the dog to a veterinarian's office where it was determined that wounds happened in some type of animal attack.

Animal Control is requesting that anyone with information regarding this animal to contact their office at (859)881-0821.
