JERUSALEM (AP) - Israeli authorities have confirmed they have arrested a number of Jewish suspects in the death of a Palestinian teenager whose death set off violent protests.
In a statement, Israeli police said the suspects were arrested early Sunday. Israel's Shin Bet security agency says the suspects remain in custody and are being interrogated.
Mohammed Abu Khdeir, 16, was abducted last week and his charred body found a short while later in a Jerusalem forest in what Palestinians say was a revenge killing for the earlier deaths of three Israeli teens.
A police official, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to release information about an ongoing investigation, said six people were in custody.
