It will be hot and humid with scattered afternoon storms likely

Posted: Mon 6:23 AM, Jul 16, 2012

The unsettled tropical-like weather pattern continues through the first half of the week with subtle changes arriving by week’s end. Like the last several days, most areas will begin precipitation-free with scattered showers and thunderstorms developing during the afternoon (thanks to the instability in the atmosphere). It will be a hit or miss type of thing with some areas seeing the rain and others staying dry. Our highs will reach the upper 80s to lower 90s. Anything that does develop dissipates after sunset with the same set-up Tuesday and Wednesday (highs in the lower 90s both days).

Thursday provides a better chance for more widespread showers and storms as a cold front pushes across Kentucky. Depending on the speed of the front, some lingering isolated storms are possible Friday. Highs back off (slightly) to the upper 80s. The weekend, for now, is looking hot and dry with highs around 90.

Have a great week of work.
