JESSAMINE COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) -- The Jessamine County Sheriff''s says they are investigating a homicide in the case of a body found in a home on Elm Fork Road on Friday.
Dale "Monty" Burgess, 49, was found dead on Friday afternoon, in a home near Nicholasville.
Police say that an autopsy revealed that he died of multiple gunshot wounds.
They say they have two or three "persons of interest" in the murder.
The sheriff's office asks that anyone with information on this homicide contact them.
We spoke to Burgess' neighbor on Friday, who told us that Burgess' death was "shocking."
"It's just unbelievable, it's not something you expect," said Kate McGuigan, who lived next door to Burgess for two years.
She said that Burgess did not have a wife or kids and only lived with his dog, "Rocky."
“His dog Rocky was his child; he would do anything for that dog.”
McGuigan says he mostly kept to himself, but if she ever needed a helping hand, Burgess was the one to ask.
“He took care of a lot of things for me; he mowed my grass and fixed a lot of things in my house. He was just a top-notch guy,” McGuigan said.
She, along with other neighbors we spoke with off-camera, are still in shock over the incident.
“It is just unbelievable; it’s not something you expect.”
But they say, at this point, they're trying to focus more on Burgess' life instead of his untimely death.
