Judge orders business to stop ad for fake job help

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A federal judge has frozen the assets of a Bowling Green marketing company after finding that it falsely advertised and sold guides to obtaining a job with the U.S. Postal Service.

U.S. District Judge Thomas B. Russell ordered representatives from Career Exams, Inc., and O'Brien Marketing, Inc. to appear in federal court in Paducah on Nov. 16 to answer deceptive advertising and marketing charges from the Federal Trade Commission.

Russell also issued a temporary injunction stopping the company from selling the guides for $120 each. The guides were versions of free information about how to apply to the Postal Service for a job and from advertising postal positions around the country.

Representatives of the two companies did not immediately return messages from The Associated Press.
