Judge sets conference in Dippin' Dots bankruptcy

PADUCAH, Ky. (AP) - A federal bankruptcy judge wants to hear from the parties involved in the case of novelty ice cream maker Dippin' Dots.

U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Thomas Fulton set a hearing for Thursday morning in Paducah for an update on efforts to resolve the company's financial status. Fulton asked for an update on the transfer of some contracts held by the company.

Once the self-proclaimed "Ice Cream of the Future," Dippin' Dots sought federal bankruptcy protection in 2011. The company called the move necessary to stave off foreclosure on more than $11 million in loans.

Investors from Oklahoma City purchased Paducah-based Dippin' Dots for $12.7 million in May. The new owners, Dippin' Dots LLC, plan to expand the company.
