FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - A judge has ordered a Christians-only health care ministry to stop its operations in Kentucky for now.

The Franklin County judge says MediShare needs regulatory approval from the State Department of Insurance.

Without that, the judge says MediShare can no longer accept money or help pay medical bills for Christians in Kentucky.

MediShare only allows participation by people who pledge to live a Christian life.

The Department of Insurance was concerned people who use the service might mistakenly believe they're paying into an insurance plan that would cover costs if they're hospitalized.
