Jury acquits father in drain cleaner death

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) - A jury has acquitted a southern Kentucky man of murder and other charges in the death of his toddler son, who drank drain cleaner.

The Lexington Herald Leader reports the jury returned the verdict for 22-year-old Bryan Daniels Friday after deliberating for nearly seven hours.

He was charged in the death of 22-month-old Kayden Daniels, who drank the liquid from a coffee cup that had been sitting on a table at his Wayne County home.

Prosecutors alleged that Bryan Daniels knew the cup contained Liquid Fire, but was impaired and left it where the child could reach it.

Daniels' attorney said the death was "an accident" and that his client thought the cup contained juice.

The trial was moved to Bowling Green after a jury couldn't be seated in Wayne County.
