Updated: Fri 6:02 PM, Mar 01, 2013

GEORGETOWN, Ky. (WKYT) - A Scott County jury has recommended 45 years for Anthony Gray who was found guilty late Thursday evening of murdering his parents.

The jury handed down the sentence of 20 years in the death of Vivian Gray, 20 years for the death of James Gray, and 5 years for tampering with evidence, to be served consecutively.

He will be eligible for parole in 20 years.

The verdict came down just after 11 p.m. Thursday in a Scott County courtroom. It took the jury nearly 11 hours of deliberations to reach the decision.

WKYT's Jerrika Insco, who was in the courtroom, reports that Gray barely had a reaction as the verdict was read.

Police say Gray shot and killed James and Vivian Gray in their Scott County home in 2007.

This was Gray's second trial on the charges. The first one in 2012 ended in a hung jury.

The sentencing phase began immediately after the verdict was read and was handed down around three a.m. this morning.
