Juveniles in stolen car hit Lexington police cruiser

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Four juveniles in a stolen car hit a police cruiser, then fled the scene on foot.

Police say they received a call around 3:30 Saturday afternoon. A woman claimed she recognized the car in front of her, and that it was stolen.

It wasn't long before police caught up with the car no Wilson Downing Road where the driver apparently tried to flee.

After a short pursuit the stolen car collided with another police cruiser on Thames Drive.

Officers say after the crash four juveniles took off on foot, but with the help of helicopters police located the suspects a short time later.

We're told that the driver of the allegedly stolen car was taken to the hospital for minor injuries and the police officer was also taken but was not injured.

Police say Thames Drive will be shutdown until around 7:30 Saturday night as they work to reconstruct the crash.
