Police chase down gunman near Lexington shopping center

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Police and a K-9 unit tracked down and arrested a man, police say, fired shots into the air in Lexington early Tuesday morning.

Police say a man fired off shots near the Shell gas station and Burger King restaurant off Saron Drive around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Officers set up a perimeter around the area, and as they were setting up they saw the suspected shooter run off behind a nearby business center and into a stand of trees. Once officers called in the K-9 unit, they found the man hiding around some homes.

Police said the suspect was very uncooperative, which led to police adding a charge of resisting arrest to his list of other charges. Those other charges are terroristic threatening and wanton endangerment.

While no officers were injured, the suspect had minor injuries and was taken to Good Samaritan hospital.He will be taken to jail as soon as he gets out.
