Son remembers man found shot to death outside business

DUNVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - Wendell Pyles had only worked at Tarter Gate Company for a few months..and Wednesday night..he was found dead there.

“He never complained about work. Always a provider. He’d give you the last dollar because he just met you,” said Teddy Pyles, the victim’s son.

Police say the 50 year old man was found with gunshot wounds to the head and back. State police say the death is suspicious. Pyles’ family questions if some kind of fight…turned deadly.

“There was a scuffle…in my opinion…maybe they got into it,” said Teddy Pyles.

Kentucky State Police in Columbia is the lead investigating agency, but not a lot of information is being released. An autopsy was expected on Pyles body Thursday in Frankfort.

Tarter Manufacturing Company officials say Pyles worked as a maintenance tech for 3 months. Vice President Ann Tarter said in a statement that: “in that short time, everyone grew to know and respect Pyles, his work ethic and excellent attitude.”

Tarter officials also describe the violence as an isolated incident.
