FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky State University has started work on an estimated $450,000 project aimed at helping fund a new baseball stadium, track and other additions to the athletic facilities around Alumni Stadium in Frankfort.
The work is a new plaza that will feature alumni donor's names. Officials didn't provide costs or timeframes on the athletics projects the plaza donations will fund, though promotional materials for the university's $12.5 million capital campaign include a plan to spend $6 million on athletics infrastructure.
University President Mary Sias told The State Journal the school hasn't made additions or major renovations to stadiums and fields since the early 1970s.
University Associated Vice President William H. Wilson says many of the facilities are in poor shape right now.
