LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Kentucky Utilities are staying on alert as a winter storm approaches.
They tell us crews are standing by for the impending weather to keep your electricity on during the storms.
Whether we see rain, sleet or snow this weekend Kentucky Utility officials are gearing up and they say they're ready for whatever comes our way.
Earlier Thursday we spoke with the spokesperson for KU and he says at this point all KU workers are on standby to ensure that there will be enough personnel on hand in case severe weather rolls through.
And while it's difficult to predict exactly how bad the storm could be, KU officials say they're keeping an eye on the weather in the western part of the state because that will be a good indicator for the potential this storm has as it moves east.
Cliff Feltham of KU says, "Whatever comes in and hits the west within the next 48 hours we get a good indicator in the way that the system moves and is moving that it is going to sweep up the I-75 and I-64 corridor and get us in one way or another."
