Karen Sypher's conviction upheld

The U.S. 6th Circuit Court of Appeals has upheld the conviction of Karen Sypher.

Sypher is serving a seven-year sentence in a Florida prison for trying to extort University of Louisville men's basketball coach Rick Pitino and for lying to the FBI and retaliation against a witness.

Prosecutors said she sought millions in cash, cars and a house from Pitino to stay quiet about a sexual encounter.

Sypher has said she is writing a book about her experience.
