NEW YORK, Ny. (WKYT) - Getting out of New York remains tricky following Sandy.
LagGardia airport remains closed due to flooding. Flights did resume at JFK and Newark Liberty Airports today.
Several Kentuckians are among the thousands hoping to catch a flight home soon.
"We have had numerous flights cancelled on us, probably half-a-dozen," Jeff Hohman told WKYT over the phone.
Hohman was vacationing in New York City when Hurricane Sandy made landfall.
"It's an experience we will surely never forget," he said. "But we are ready to be home."
Hohman couldn't catch a flight, so his family decided to take a car and drive to Philadelphia today. They hope to get a flight out from there sometime Thursday morning.
Rebecca and Andrew Kent of Lexington remain stranded in the Big Apple.
"We are stuck," Rebecca Kent told us over the phone today from her New York City hotel.
"All the flights are cancelled, you can't get a car, it's almost impossible to get out of the city right now," she explained.
The Kent's are hoping to catch a flight out of JFK or Newark sometime Thursday.
"It's been quite the experience of probably a lifetime," Kent said.
