Lexington, Ky. (WKYT) - The Kentucky Blood Center is on standby in the event Louisiana needs extra blood in the aftermath of Hurricane Isaac.
The Kentucky Blood Center is one of a handful of centers officials in New Orleans reached out to as part of their disaster relief plan.
The center's CEO, Bill Reed, says the blood supply is adequate right now. That allows the center to help other states that may be in need during a disaster.
Kentucky Blood Center officials tell us it could be Wednesday, Thursday, or even next week when New Orleans needs blood.
If you'd like to donate, the Kentucky Blood Center officials say they're always in need of negative blood types, particularly O negative.
