Kentucky Book Fair is this week in Frankfort

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Nearly 200 authors, artists and illustrators are participating in this weekend's 31st annual Kentucky Book Fair in Frankfort.

Among Kentucky authors and artists who will sign books are Wendell Berry, Silas House, Bobbie Ann Mason, George Ella Lyon and Al Smith. Other notables expected are cartoonist Stephen Pastis of the comic strip "Pearls Before Swine," and actress Mary McDonough, who played Erin in "The Waltons" and has written "Lessons From The Mountain: What I Learned From Erin Walton."

Friday is designated as Children's Day, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. EST. More than 40 authors will take part in activities including reading and demonstrations.

All the authors will participate Saturday, set for 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with symposiums, readings, face-painting and characters in costume.
