SPARTA, Ky. (WKYT) - It's race weekend here in Kentucky and the Speedway is doing all it can to make the best experience for the fans. The track says its ready if the weather turns bad.
Last year, there was the microburst that turned over a tent and fans had to battle 100-degree heat. This year, they could be facing severe storms.
The Speedway is focused on keeping the fans as cool as possible for the times the sun is out. Steps to protect people from the heat includes opening multiple cooling stations.
The Kentucky Motor Speedway says a big goal is also to keep their fans informed so that everyone can have fun from start to finish.
Traffic has also been an issue with so many fans trying to get to the track. This year, the Speedway has opened up more parking with the goal being to get fans off the interstate as quick as possible.
