Kentucky State Police kick off food drive

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky State Police are again hoping to fill up their cruisers with food for needy families.

All 16 state police posts throughout Kentucky and state police headquarters in Frankfort will be collecting nonperishable food items through Dec. 14. Last year, state police collected more than 25 tons of food in the "Cram the Cruiser" food drive.

The agency offers some suggested donations, such as canned fruit and vegetables, canned meat, macaroni and cheese, cereal, peanut butter, jelly, canned soups, chili or spaghetti sauce, brownie and cake mixes, coffee, water, powdered milk and juices.
