LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Lexington police charged a driver after he narrowly missed hitting people and crashed into a tree during the city's downtown St. Patrick's Day parade.
The Lexington Herald-Leader reported that Dwight Napier was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and police were waiting on blood test results to determine whether he would face additional charges.
Police said the incident occurred around 2:45 p.m. on Saturday at Short Street and Broadway when a car almost hit people who had been attending the parade. The driver swerved around the people, jumped a curb and hit a tree before backing up and driving away.
Police found Napier sitting on his car a short distance away and he was taken to the hospital to be checked out after complaining about neck pain.
