BATH COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - 14 years after a 4-year-old Florida girl disappeared, a Kentucky man has now been charged with her murder.
Kentucky State Police arrested 42-year-old Keith Wilson at his Bath County home Tuesday morning on a warrant out of Charlotte County, Florida. He's accused of killing Pilar Rodriguez in February of 1999.
Detectives in Florida obtained a warrant for Wilson's arrest after his former girlfriend, who was Rodriguez's baby sitter, pleaded guilty in the case.
Melissa Harding-Jones entered a plea to accessory after the fact during a hearing in Florida on Tuesday morning. Police arrested Harding-Jones in 2010 on a manslaughter charge.
Investigators say the little girl went on vacation in 1999 with Jones and her then boyfriend, Keith Wilson. The little girl never returned and the case went cold for 10 years.
In 2009, police searched the home where Wilson used to live in Florida. Evidence found during that search led to Harding-Jones arrest.
After her arrest, Police say she told them Wilson killed the 4-year-old and buried her body. Wilson denied those allegations.
Wilson was arrested at his Owingsville home Tuesday morning without incident. During a hearing Tuesday afternoon in Bath District Court, Wilson waived his right to extradition.
While leaving the courthouse he told us he had nothing to do with the girl's disappearance and still hopes they find her.
Wilson is being held in the Montgomery County Detention Center, he will be taken back to Florida as soon as his paperwork is processes.
