PADUCAH, Ky. (AP) - Police caught a western Kentucky man armed with two semi-automatic rifles who threatened to kill nurses at the Livingston County Hospital and shoot a deputy.

Kentucky State Police said in a news release that 26-year-old Kenneth Fitzgerald was located in a wooded area in Caldwell County on Friday evening and he was found with two rifles and marijuana.

WPSD-TV in Paducah reports that the Livingston County Sheriff's Office said Fitzgerald assaulted three workers at the hospital on Thursday evening. He later called the hospital to say that he was going to shoot nurses as they walked to their cars and his family told police he said he was going to shoot a sheriff's deputy.

State police officers were posted at the hospital on Friday to protect staff.
