Kentucky has $1 million Powerball winner

The Kentucky Lottery says a ticket sold at the Remke Market on Old Taylor Mill Road in Taylor Mill, near Covington, is the first in Kentucky to win a guaranteed one million dollar second prize in the new enhanced game. The winning ticket was for Saturday's Powerball drawing.

The one million dollar prize is won when a player matches all of the white ball numbers but not the Powerball. Previously, this prize was worth $200,000.

"This great new feature is already doing what we'd hoped it would do - create more millionaires," said Kentucky Lottery President and CEO Arch Gleason. "This was one of the benefits of the new game, along with jackpots that should grow faster and better odds of winning a prize. We're looking forward to meeting our newest millionaire here at Kentucky Lottery headquarters, and hope there are more to come."

The ticket for Saturday's drawing will have the following white ball numbers: 5 – 33 – 41 – 54 – 59

Players have 180 days from the date of a drawing to claim their prize. The winner must bring the ticket to lottery headquarters in Louisville, and should sign the back of the ticket.
