LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - The race for Kentucky's sixth congressional district seat is expected to come down to a very close finish.

Two years ago, incumbent Democrat Ben Chandler beat Republican Andy Barr by less than 700 votes. Tuesday, they'll face each other again. Monday night they rallied voters in at least six Central Kentucky cities each. Chandler ended his day in Versailles. Barr finished up in Lexington.

"This has been a long campaign, but there's been a lot of effort that goes into this. It's a cause that's much larger than my candidacy," explained Republican Andy Barr.

Fresh off his 19-county bus tour, Republican challenger Andy Barr spoke to supporters in Georgetown, and then in his hometown of Lexington.

"We need to bring a leader into Washington who is capable of helping spread the economy, who knows how to help small businesses grow," noted Barr supporter John Wickre.

The incumbent in the sixth district congressional race, Congressman Ben Chandler visited seven counties Monday.

"Everybody's been so wonderful to me. It's been an honor to serve this district and I hope that the voters will give me a chance to serve two more years," the congressman said.

He ended Election Day Eve with a rally in his hometown of Versailles.

"It's time that people start having more compassion for one another, and he's always represented his passion, and he cares not just for a certain people, but for everybody," Chandler supporter Sandra Hardin said.

Both men will cast their ballot Tuesday in their hometowns.
