Knox County food stamp worker among eight arrested in drug case

BARBOURVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - An employee at a southern Kentucky food stamp office is among eight people charged in a Knox County drug case.

Knox County sheriff deputies say they found meth, needles, and an indoor marijuana growing operation at Joyce Riley's home. She wasn't home at the time, but her children and some friends were, and they were arrested. Deputies then went to the Barbourville Food Stamp Office where Riley worked to talk to her.

"I have her an update of the situation while we was there, what we found, and so forth, and of course, she denied any further search and through a search warrant, it revealed why," Knox County Sheriff Deputy Claude Hudson said.

Supervisors at the food stamp office did not want to talk about the case.
