Ky. Derby Festival princesses announced

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Five Kentucky women have been named princesses of this year's Kentucky Derby Festival.

They are Chelsea Diamond of Louisville, a Transylvania University junior; Katherine Gardner of Greenville, a University of Louisville senior; Allison Grant of Harrodsburg, a University of Louisville sophomore; Cameryn Jones of Goshen, a University of Kentucky senior, and Dominique Luster of Louisville, a University of Kentucky junior.

The five women will act as ambassadors for the nearly 70 events that make up the Kentucky Derby Festival beginning later this month.

Festival officials said in a news release they were chosen from more than 100 applicants.

Previous Princesses have included former Kentucky Governor Martha Layne Collins and Gail Gorski, the first female pilot hired by United Airlines.
