WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. (WYMT) - The governor made a stop in Williamsburg on Wednesday afternoon.

Ky. Gov. Steve Beshear visited the "near zero" energy homes in Whitley County. The homes, which run on solar and green energy, create as much energy as they use.

The homes unveiled back in May and the governor said it's a great thing for homeowners.

"When you are talking about low, moderate income people, owning a home, you know, they do not have expendable income, disposable income," said Beshear.
"Man, when they can save $350 or so a year on their utility bills, that's a tremendous savings, that's really the difference a lot of time in being able to own a home, and being able to put food on the table and send your kids to school and improve their quality of life."

So far, there are five near zero homes in the county.
