LAFAYETTE, Ky. (AP) - Wanted: A candidate for the LaFayette city commission.
The small city on the Kentucky-Tennessee border may not have four write-in candidates to fill all the seats on the four-member commission after the Nov. 6 election.
The non-partisan race has drawn three people, but no one for the fourth slot two weeks before the election.
LaFayette Mayor Ellin Francis told The Kentucky New Era (http://bit.ly/Re5EcT ) that two people have expressed an interest in the spot, but neither had filed as a write-in candidate as of Friday. They have until Oct. 26 to do so.
According to state law, write-in candidates for any office must file a declaration of intent, and pay a filing fee. Write-in votes cast for candidates who have not met the filing requirements will not be counted.
