BENTON, Ky. (AP) - A western Kentucky sheriff says a grand jury will probe the death of an Aurora man and decide if criminal charges are warranted.
Marshall County Sheriff Kevin Byars told The Paducah Sun (bit.ly/UukuNJ) that the panel will hear information about the July 18 death of 39-year-old Howard "Joe" Baier.
An autopsy in Louisville showed Baier died of traumatic asphyxiation and manual strangulation
Byars says the death appears to have been the result of a fight between Baier and 51-year-old Jimmy Filbeck of Aurora.
Byars said there is no witness to the beginning of the altercation, and no one knows the exact cause of the fight.
The grand jury will meet Sept. 13.
